"Birthday candles"
This is the last picture i have taken for the theme of Surprise and looking back at the photographs i think i have photographed this theme well.
The definition of the word Surprise means;
surprise
1. To encounter suddenly or unexpectedly; take or catch unawares.
2. To attack or capture suddenly and without warning.
3. To cause to feel wonder, astonishment, or amazement, as at something unanticipated.
4.
a. To cause (someone) to do or say something unintended.
b. To elicit or detect through surprise.
n.
One of the Photographs i took was taken of my dad showing the emotion of Surprise. I really like this photograph and i think it really fits the definition of the theme.
Even though to feel surprised is more of an emotion felt thing and commonly this is shown on people, i wanted to try and explore how i could could photograph the theme but not necessarily taking pictures of people.
The picture above is really bright and colourful and i really love this about this photograph. This still life photograph shows it is possible to photograph Surprise as it isn't an emotion of surprise but it still relates. Surprise is often related to Surprise birthday parties which is why i took a photograph of birthday candles. Setting up my own photographs and playing around with the objects, such as lighting the candles or not lighting the candles, was something i really enjoyed and after experimenting with still life i think it could be a genre i would quite enjoy to be creative with.
Setting up my own still life work reminded me of a photographer named Andy Rudak. Not all of his photography work is still life but the still life work he does is set up in a certain way.
His work is really creative and it has inspired me to do more. I really like the picture below because of how brightly lit the photograph is. It carries a sense of humour and is unique.
1. The act of surprising or the condition of being surprised.
2. Something, such as an unexpected encounter, event, or gift, that surprises.
